Show Synopsis:
"Little Shop of Horrors" is a horror-comedy rock musical with music by Alan Menken and lyrics/book by Howard Ashman. The story follows Seymour Krelborn, a meek floral assistant who discovers a strange plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood and a plan for global domination.
Read the audition information closely and sign up for an audition time at the bottom of this page. We will try to see everyone, however, priority will be given to actors with reserved time slots.
Headshots and resumes are appreciated but not required.
All ages, ethnicities, gender expressions and bodies are encouraged to audition. We want to hear from you!
Character Breakdown:
SEYMOUR KRELBORN:
- Cast: Brad Willcuts
- Description: An insecure, put-upon florist's clerk and the hero of the story. He’s sweet and well-meaning, but he can be easily swayed.
AUDREY:
- Age: 20s-30s
- Description: Secret love of Seymour's life. A kind-hearted but self-esteem-lacking shop assistant with a questionable taste in men.
- Stipend: $1600 or AEA guest contract
MR. MUSHNICK:
- Age: 50s-60s
- Description: Grumpy and profit-driven owner of the flower shop. He is a father figure to Seymour.
Stipend: $800
ORIN SCRIVELLO:
- Age: 30s-40s
- Description: Audrey’s sadistic dentist boyfriend. A classic villain with a twisted sense of humor.
Stipend: $800
AUDREY II (Voice):
Cast: Tyson Kaup
Description: The plant with a soulful, funky voice. A darkly comedic villain character.
THE RONNETTES (Crystal, Ronnette, and Chiffon):
- Age: Late teens-30s
- Description: Street-smart, sassy girls who sing as a Greek chorus. Energetic and engaging.
Stipend: $1000
ENSEMBLE:
- Various ages & vocal ranges. Will portray Skid Row residents and other supporting roles.
Stipend: $400
What to Prepare:
- Song: 16-32 bars or under 2 minutes of a musical theater or pop/rock/r&b song in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided.
Actors are also permitted to bring a track. If using a track, please have it downloaded and cued up on your device with the volume at a medium level.
Dance: Not everyone will be asked to dance. If you are invited to attend the dance call, please come prepared to move; wear comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear for a short dance combination.
